This 1842 Clipping Documented A Severe Frost On Friday Night, May 20, That Damaged Beans, Cucumbers, Grapes, And Garden Corn In An Unidentified Town And Its Vicinity. The Report Stated That Many Gardens Lost Their Entire Bean And Cucumber Crops, While Most Local Grapevines, Including Several Excellent Varieties, Were Destroyed, Reducing The Expected Harvest By Several Thousand Pounds. The Clipping Also Cited The Albany Argus Of Albany, New York, Which Reported That Railroad Passengers Traveling From Boston, Massachusetts, Observed Approximately One Inch Of Snow On Mountain Summits During The Same Period.
