A Satirical 1894 Clipping Critiques The Cleveland Chamber Of Commerce's Request That Citizens Omit "Ohio" Or "O" When Writing "Cleveland" On Letterheads And Hotel Registers. The Chamber Argued That Cleveland Required No Further Identification, As It Was The Only City Of Importance With That Name. The Text Mocked This Notion By Comparing It To Including Locations Like "Paris, France" Or "New York, N.Y." And Highlighted That Clevelanders Were Often Known Outside The City Rather Than Within. The Piece Reflects Late 19th-Century Civic Pride And Urban Identity Efforts In American Cities.
