This 1915 News Clipping Reporting On A Proposed 1915 Arctic Rescue Mission Involving Explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson. The Plan Included Using A Schooner With Three Hydroaeroplanes To Reach Wrangel Island And Conduct Aerial Searches Within A 200-Mile Radius. The Project's Estimated Cost Was $100,000. Burt M. McConnell, Stefansson’s Former Secretary, Believed Stefansson Could Survive Due To His Knowledge Of Indigenous Survival Methods. This Clipping Reflects One Of The Earliest Documented Plans To Use Aircraft For Arctic Rescue Operations Although The Plan Was Not Ultimately Carried Out.
