This 1920 Poster Stamp Promotes The Emprunt National 6% Loan, A French Government Bond Issued To Finance Post-World War I Reconstruction. The Design Features Alsatian Children In Traditional Dress Standing Before A Bank, Representing The Banque D'Alsace Et De Lorraine, Which Encouraged Regional Investment. The Artist, Hansi (Jean-Jacques Waltz), Was Known For His Patriotic Alsatian Illustrations. Following The Treaty Of Versailles (1919), Alsace-Lorraine Rejoined France, And Such Imagery Reinforced French National Identity.
