This 1945 Photograph Print Clipping Shows A Boxing Match Between Pfc Natalie Slack Of Frenchtown, New Jersey, And Corporal Dean L. Stidham Of Huntington, West Virginia. The Bout Took Place Aboard A Transport Ship In The Pacific Theater During World War II. Women In The Image Were Members Of The Women’s Army Corps, Created In 1943 After The Earlier Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. The WAC Provided Vital Support Services Including Clerical, Communication, And Logistical Duties, Freeing Men For Combat Roles.
