The Caption States, “Riflemen Confer With An Interpreter, Seated At Left, Before They Investigate A Cave On Iwo.” The Battle Of Iwo Jima Took Place From February 19 To March 26, 1945, And Was One Of The Most Intense Pacific Campaign Battles. The Photograph Documents The Harsh Terrain, The Role Of Interpreters, And The Dangerous Task Of Clearing Enemy Positions Hidden Underground.
