This Tobacco Silk Represents The American Legion Of Honor, A Fraternal Organization Established In 1878 In Boston, Massachusetts, By Dr. George W. Copeland. 

The Organization Aimed To Provide Mutual Aid And Life Insurance Benefits To Its Members During A Time When Social Welfare Systems Were Limited. 

Tobacco Silks, Including This One, Were Produced By The American Tobacco Company In The Early 20th Century, Circa 1910-1915, As Promotional Items To Boost Sales. 

These Silks Served As Collectibles, Featuring Various Themes Such As Military Orders And Fraternal Organizations. 

The Depiction Of The American Legion Of Honor On This Silk Reflects The Popularity And Cultural Significance Of Fraternal Societies In The United States During The Late 19th And Early 20th Centuries.
