This c1941 Lithograph Postcard Depicts The “Mighty Eagle” B-17 Bomber, A Variant Of The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress Used By The United States Army Air Forces During World War II. The B-17 Gained Recognition For Its Role In Daylight Strategic Bombing Campaigns Over Europe Between 1942 And 1945. Nicknamed “Flying Fortress” For Its Defensive Armament, The B-17 Was Built For Long-Range Missions And High-Altitude Bombing. “Mighty Eagle” Refers To One Of The Many Individual Aircraft Named By Crews During The War. The Postcard Was Printed By Graycraft Card Co., Danville, Virginia, Using A “Natural-Finish” Style And Labeled T-37 In The Postcard Series.
