The First USS Altair (AD-11) Was A Destroyer Tender Commissioned In 1921. She Served In The Atlantic Fleet During The Interwar Years And Participated In The Neutrality Patrols In The Early Years Of World War II. In 1944, She Was Transferred To The Pacific Fleet, Where She Supported Destroyers And Other Small Craft During The Liberation Of The Philippines And The Invasion Of Okinawa. She Was Decommissioned In 1946
